Yes..this way, you are able to observe better once you are back from your isolation. Monks do it all the time...it is part of their training

I don't think that isolating yourself is healthy, but I do think that having time alone with yourself is a necessity.

I'm not sure if it is healthy. I know that I do it at times. Usually it is a part of my grief when I have lost someone or part of my depression when I am sad. I haven't figured out a better way to handle those emotions so for now that is what I do. Healthy, hmmm. There are times I need alone time to listen to music, read and just be alone but those times are different. They just feel different.

there is a common delineator with isolation. if you are happy when you're alone, all's well. if though you feel bad, then its no good. isolation is fine as long as you feel good.

Absolutely, if you need  a time to re-energize and refocus, then by all means do so.  I know some people who take a week to get away to a mountain retreat to meditate, pray and reflect. Also, just getting alone in your home to have some peace of mind is very theraputic. Isolation for other purposes, such as depression, is not healthy and needs support from others to overcome.

If there is a good purpose for doing so. Isolation is the breeding ground for creativity. So much can be accomplished when there are no distractions and you have all the time in the world to focus on whatever creative outlet you have. Just be sure not to lose touch with close ones and to no lose yourself in doing so.

Isolation refers to spending time alone. Being alone means many of the distractions that often take us away from planned tasks are removed. Isolation is beneficial to the self as it is a great way to rejuvenate, to strengthen your sense of who you are, and to work through current conflicts. read more

Yes! I think everyone needs a break from the everyday stresses, noises, and people once in a while.  I feel this will give you a chance to allow you to breathe, think, and relax.

When we have a lot on our plates, I think it is healthy to take a breather from everything so you can, in a way, press the pause button, and give yourself a moment to either find your peace, create a new game plan, or take a well-needed break from the stress.

Once your head is clear, you are a better help for everyone else. By isolating yourself, I am talking about a day or two to yourself, not a month.

Why not? Everyone needs a little time to themselves to think.

I enjoy spending time to myself to think about what I can improve on in my life to make me a better person.  I also like to spend time alone when i am figuring out my monthly bills, and/or going over my budget.  I feel like this would be hard to accomplish with someone constantly interrupting me or peering over my shoulder.  Even if I felt they were peering over my shoulder, it would affect me and my work progress.

Most everyone spends time alone while driving.  Whether it is driving to work or to visit someone, most of us can think of times when we are behind the wheel by ourselves.  This is very relaxing to me.  I can turn up the tunes, jam out by myself and think about life.

Sometimes Yes it is good to take a break but be careful not to isolate yourself permanently as social contact is a necessity, scientific studies have proved that people live longer with social contact.
